Once again I'm not far from Centraal Station but to the West instead of the East. The weather (as it's a topic that often must be covered) has been very forgiving - not too hot at all - which is a contrast from the sweltering heat of London at the moment.
Yesterday I took in the Amsterdam Historical Museum which took me several hours. I just happen to like to read all the little info plaques and things. It's a lovely building but I didn't find it as interesting as the Museum Of London. Apart from their naval empire and the Miracle Of Amsterdam, they seemed to gloss over some of the rest: their great fire, the religious persecution of 1566, and so on. Things I'd like to have seen more about.
Before that I wandered over to where I thought the hotel where I stayed last time might be located. I was surprised how easily I found it based exclusively on a six-year-old memory of a little canal beside it. it turned out to also be behind the biggest thing you see when you leave Centraal Station - the Old Church.
Today I'll check out the Rijksmuseum and see how many little plaques they have for me to read. Later in the afternoon I'll take a look at Anne Frank House, hopefully.
Tomorrow the plan is to visit Domburg, a little seaside town in South-west of the Netherlands. It'll be nice to just relax near a beach and do nothing for the day. See you then.

The last time I visited Amsterdam was six years ago with Evelyn. We didn't have a lot of money but stayed in a hotel not far from Centraal Station. Walking around the city yesterday I somehow managed to find the little places we'd visited - the layout of the city slowly came back to me.
But then I realised that we'd only seen about half the city back then.

Amsterdam is so much more than dirty sex and kick ass drug use. It's truly beautiful and I reckon you're in a good time at the year while visiting this european "gem" city.
Good to see you're enjoying it. If you'll ever stumble into Utrecht I have friends who owns a bakery that would probably give you a meal, a drink and a few funny storys about me.
